Review: Benefit They're Real! Push-up Liner

The Benefit They're Real! Push-up Liner is Amazing.   It claims to be long wearing, waterproof, hugs the lashline, and makes eyes look larger.  The Accuflex tip allows you to get close to the lashline and draw an easy line.  Among those things it is BLACK!  As dark as the Inglot Gel eyeliner and is matt.

I'm someone who when it comes to the infamous wing or cat eye it's hit or miss.  I either get it right or I don't.  This was so easy to use and I found with accuflex tip, "I just went for it".  I was easily able to stamp where I wanted my wing and control how long or big I wanted it.   I usually use liquid liner because, for me, it's much easier to control.  But with this eyeliner I had no problem...I love it.

I highly recommend you pick this liner up.  It retails at Sephora for $24.

Comment below if you've tried this and let me know how you like it.  I've seen mixed reviews about it.

Makeup No Buy Challenge FAIL!

If you haven't seen my first blog entry I started a Makeup no buy challenge around June 11th.  It has been so difficult to stick with this but I've been able to do it....up until last Saturday.  I lasted 16 days but to me if felt more like a month.  My husband and I were in San Francisco just hanging out watching  TV as I was browsing the Sephora app.  We were in town for the Gun Show at the Cow Palace and he offered to buy me something since he would be picking up a "few" things at the show.  I methodically justified this because he was paying for it and not me.  When I was done browsing he offered to just take me to Sephora instead of having to wait for my items to be shipped.  And that is exactly what happened.  We went to Sephora the next day and I ended up picking up more than I thought I was going to.  On our way home I felt sooo guilty and admitted that I cheated.  On that same note, I can't get myself to return my items.  I wanted to be honest with you, hold myself accountable, and confess on this blog.  Here were the items I ended up picking up...

Top Items:  Tarte Glow Beyond 500 pt beauty reward, Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo, Bumble and Bumble pret-a-powder, Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection, Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Push-Up Liner
Bottom Items: Sephora Collection Natural Resources:Everyday Eye Brush Set, Urban Decay Naked Flushed in Strip, 2014 VIB Rouge Renewal Gift, Benefit Cosmetics Big Beautiful Eyes, Makeup Forever Aqua eyes 100 point Beauty Reward, Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo, and Sephora Collection Lips in Bloom Glossy Lip Pencil Trio

I will continue the No Buy Makeup Challenge until July 31st.  I realize I have had a slip up and I hope that I will able to finish this Challenge.  I know it sounds silly but this really is a challenge for me.  I think the reason I have such a hard time with holding back is because I feel like I deserve it.  I know they are just material items but I feel like I bust my A$# every day, take care of my 4 boys, my husband, work, and they are gifts to myself.  I contribute to the household and feel that buying gifts for myself is ok.  I just need to calm down a little.  Makeup and shopping are my vices.

Comment below on what your vice is. I would love to hear from you, especially the mamas out there, and what you do to reward yourself.

Thanks for visiting my page.  I will have reviews of items purchased soon.  Have a blessed day!

Loreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara

With So many new mascaras out these days I picked up the Loreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara not too long ago.  This mascara claims to add 15x volume using its 360 degree flexor brush to achieve the "wide eyed manga look". Manga referring to the Japanese comics or Japanese anime.

While I do like this mascara I found the formula is very "wet".  I usually prefer a dryer formula because I feel it adds more volume to my lashes. It did add volume to my lashes, didn't clump, but didn't separate my lashes as much as I would have liked. I found the flimsiness of the wand a bit weird but did find it allowed much better control of getting to my lashes from all angles. I will continue using this but probably will not repurchase. I'm hoping as it gets a little older it will dry up a bit so I can revisit it and see how it performs.

Let me know your thoughts on this mascara and any tips you may have for using it.

Solution to the visible underwear under your dress or skirt

How many times have you put on a cute dress or skirt only to turn around and find that your underwear is peaking thru?  I wish I would've purchased this a long time ago.  My Mother wore slips under her dresses but they were the long, nylon type with lace.  Not really the look I was going for under my dresses.  I stumbled upon this slip on amazon when I decided that going commando was not something I wanted to do on a regular basis.  The Farr West 12 Inch Low Rise Half Slip (25712) and retails for approximately $30.  http://www.amazon.com/Farr-West-Inch-Rise-25712/dp/B0054M68HS/ref=pd_sim_a_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0H3FSKQC2NWNY8CMK6S8
It comes in nude, black, and white.  It has been a life saver on so many occasions that I wish I would've thought of this sooner.

Kat Von D Eyeshadow Palettes

It wasn't until I started playing with my Kat Von D Monarch palette that I realized I have a total of 7 of her eyeshadow palettes.  The quality of her palettes are amazing and I do feel that each palette is quite different from the next.  Her palettes are extremely pigmented.  Although, there are a few colors that are chalky and have quite a bit of fall out.  All in all, I recommend them and even the shadows that are chalky or have fall out, you can work with.  I believe these are only sold at Sephora.  Lets take a look at each palette and swatches.....

Monarch Eyeshadow Palette
This is a warm toned palette including 3 large base shades and nine smaller eyeshadows.  The colors are gorgeous and they all work well with each other.  Ultra pigmented, some colors have fallout, but all in all my favorite palette of hers that I own.

from left to right: entomology, telepathy, tiny death, wrath, papilio, summerfly, killing jar, delaney, vanish, disintegration, shadow box, deadhead

True Romance Palette -Saint
This may be my 2nd favorite of my Kat Von D Palettes.  It includes a range of frosty creams and pinks and browns.  It almost reminds me of the Naked 3 Palette.  I've created very soft almost whimsical eye looks with this as well as a smokey brown look.  The first two shadows do have quite a bit of fall out.

from left to right: heavens, enjoy the silence, <3, downtown, sunny, pray for me, bookworm, caravaggio

True Romance Eyeshadow Palette-Ladybird
When this palette came out,  I knew I had to have it.  It includes eight beautiful eyeshadows...all of them Matte.  The colors are extremely pigmented and easy to work with.  My favorite of the  eyeshadows has to be cleopatra which is a gorgeous, kind of, burnt orange.

From left to rigth: fur elise, vespertine, renholder, siouxsie-sioux, unrequited, harlow, wolf, cleopatra

True Romance Palette-Metal Orchestra
Probably my least favorite of the bunch, I'm not even really sure why I bought this.  I never really wear silver on my eye or blue for that matter.  Nonetheless, If you are into blues these blues are beautiful.  Very sparkly but beautiful.  The silver cream shadow did dry up on me and is useless at this point.

From left to right: first class, techno, thrasher, dagger, lucifer, glock, razor gray, slayer (cream)

True Romance Eyeshadow palette-poetica
Another beautiful palette, I probably would have bought this for the third color alone (chandler a pearlized copper). Gorgeous gorgeous colors and it was surprising how nicely the purples went with the copper color.  Couldn't pass this one up!

From left to right: Forgiveness, sand timer, chandler, tijuana, wonderland, skiba, babe, you alone

True Romance Mini Eyeshadow Palette
This was a holiday palette of four eyeshadows, Beautiful browns, a gorgeous gold, and rich cranberry shadow.  Again, I had to have it.  I believe this was limited edition and not currently sold at sephora.

Top left to right: fallen, unrequited
Bottom: pagan poetry, hermit

True Romance Mini Eyeshadow Palette
Art of Elysium -Kimberly
Kat Von D designed this mini palette in collaboration with the Art of Elysium which is a charity that provides inspiration to children battling serious medical conditions.  Gorgeous colors and when I saw this online I did not hesitate.  Unfortunately, when swatched the colors were not as pigmented as her other palettes.

Top from left to right: believer, shakespeare
bottom: rad purple, dorian gray

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of Kat Von D's makeup.  I have to admit I was a bit skeptical.  Her eyeshadows are amazing.  I have also tried her liquid eyeliner, and foil lipsticks.  Again, great quality.  I look forward to whatever else she may come out with.  One of my favorite brands to stalk at Sephora.
